Tip 1: Let loose and have a blast!

Encourage your wedding party to bring their best game and let loose! One of my biggest secrets is to allow yourselves to HAVE FUN! When you are having fun together and enjoying the moment, that’s when your photos will look their best! Let loose and have a blast!

Tip 2: Have everyone take a shot together if you think they will have a hard time letting loose!

Having everyone take a shot together will help everyone loosen up. Plus, it would also make for some super fun and cute candid photos! The only “down” side with this tip is that you’d have to have this planned and ready ahead of time. If you think your wedding party would do better with a shot, plan ahead – assign a bridesmaid or your maid of honor to have all the shot glasses and a drink of your choice ready before it’s photo time.

Tip 3: Choose a photographer that uses expressive poses and movement!

If you want fun wedding party photos, choose a photographer that wants to give you that experience! The majority of the time during wedding party photos your photographer will guide you with fun, expressive and playful prompts that will have everyone interacting with each other and having fun! For example, I’ll have your bridal party cheer you on as loud as they can, as you and your new spouse go in for a kiss. Movement makes everyone look more natural and helps us capture real emotions in photos. Wether dancing, hugging or having everyone do their funniest walk, we’ll be sure that you are having fun and that we are capturing real and genuine emotions.

Tip 4: Have your photographer capture the in-between moments and genuine Laughter

Not only should your photographer capture the formal and fun prompts that they will give you, but have them keep shooting in between the poses and prompts! The in-between moments, the moments between the poses and prompts make for the best photos, nothing beats genuine laugher and unscripted moments – like an inside joke or spontaneous giggles that will radiate pure happiness! I encourage my wedding parties to be silly and goofy, so we can capture more of these genuine moments and you can have fun wedding party photos.

Tip 5: Make sure enough time is allotted on your timeline for wedding party photos

A very important tip is making sure there is enough time allotted of your timeline for these fun wedding party photos. I recommend having at least 30 minutes set aside for wedding party photos – this includes photos of the bride and groom with the full wedding party, The bride with her bridesmaids and the grooms with his groomsmen.

Tip 6 : Trust your photographer and Allow spontaneity

Ok, so you’ve helped your wedding party let loose and have fun, you’ve hired a photographer that is all about fun wedding party photos and capturing all the in between moments, you’ve made sure there is enough time allotted for wedding party photos on your timeline, the next thing will be to trust your photographer (that’s me!) and to allow for spontaneity! So let go, and allow yourselves to have fun, be yourself and be in the moment and your photos will turn out amazing!
